Our lawful bases for processing are: consent, performance of a contract, legal obligation, and legitimate interests (to improve services and prevent fraud).

- With your consent — for example, to introduce you to an independent, SRA-regulated solicitor (if you choose to proceed)
- With trusted service providers who help operate our systems and IT infrastructure
- With regulators or law-enforcement agencies where required by law or FCA rules
Solicitor partners: where suitable, we will share your information with one of our independent, SRA-regulated solicitor partners: HD Law, Locksley Law (a trading style of RH Law Ltd, SRA Number: 659355, ICO Registration Number: ZA567603), or Consumer Rights Solicitors (CRS). Each solicitor acts as an independent data controller for the purposes of handling your claim. Please refer to their respective privacy notices for details of how they process your personal data.
Credit reference agencies: To help locate your historic finance agreements, Locksley Law may carry out a soft credit search on your behalf via Valid8 IP Ltd, which may access data from Experian Ltd, Equifax Ltd, and/or TransUnion. This soft search will not affect your credit score. Clear Claim Check does not carry out credit searches and does not store any credit report data.
Fraud prevention and analytics: We use Kount Inc. (an Equifax company) for fraud prevention, and FullStory Inc. for session analytics to help improve our service. Both act as data processors under our instruction.
5. Data retention
We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, normally up to six years after your case or enquiry is closed, unless a longer period is required by law or regulation.
6. Your data rights
You have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correct or update inaccurate information
- Request erasure ("the right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to certain processing activities
- Request data portability to another provider
- Withdraw consent for marketing at any time

11. Credit Search & Data Sharing
Credit Searches Carried Out by Locksley Law
Where a soft credit search is required to help identify historic finance agreements, this search will be carried out by RH Law Ltd (SRA Number: 659355, ICO Registration Number: ZA567603), trading as Locksley Law Solicitors. Locksley Law acts as a separate data controller for the credit search information. Clear Claim Check does not store, retain or have ongoing access to any credit report information.
Using more than one Bureau
We will disclose personal data to our partner Valid8 IP Ltd for the provision of credit report information which may include Equifax Ltd, Experian Ltd, TransUnion.
